The weblink is dead(ish) now, but there it is, people. The Nexus 5, for $349.
The tag line, as you can see, reads:
"Capture the daily and the impressive in clean new ways. Beginning at $349."
That's a very excellent indication that we'll see more than one SKU (aka retail store version), significance we'll (obviously) see more than one storage space size. The defunct weblink took us to a 16-gigabyte edition, so that's a very start. The URL also factors to a "black" edition — a very very excellent we might see other shades as well. Determine white-colored, of course.
Nexus 5 release date & reports:
A new Nexus 5 report claims that the phone will indeed have two storage options, but that it won’t have two battery versions, (as some of the earlier rumors said) when it will be launched later this month.
The Nexus 5 is hardly a secret anymore – especially after having been listed on the Google Play Store the other day, at which point its press render was also found (see above) – but there still are things about it that aren’t clear, most of them related to its launch.
We have no idea when the device will be unveiled and launched (although there’s apparently an event scheduled for October 24 that may or may not have something to do with new Nexus devices), we don’t know in how many color versions it will be available (although a white version is also rumored to joined the black one), we don’t know how many storage options there will be (although the 16GB model has been confirmed yesterday), and then there’s that rumor saying that the alleged 32GB Nexus 5 version will have a bigger battery than the 16GB model.
Thanks to an insider, Tutto Android can apparently confirm that the handset will be available in 16GB and 32GB versions, something that we suspected all along. Obviously, there won’t be support for microSD storage expansion.
There won’t be an 8GB model of the phone, but that was pretty much a given considering that prices for the Nexus 5 start at $349 according to Google’s own website – and that’s the price for the 16GB model.
The same publication also says that both devices will have the same battery inside, a 2300mAh unit, and that the device should be released at the end of October, although a clear launch date is not given.
While this isn’t coming officially from Google or LG, it certainly sounds more than plausible, but we’ll be back with updates once we have them.
